Andrea Hammer
Andrea Hammer’s penchant for JOY-FULL living through health and wellness is contagious. She long ago shed the world of corporate banking to pursue her passion for helping others transform their lives by understanding the tremendous life-enhancing value of nutrition and exercise. Andrea has vast knowledge, skills and experience in many areas of Fitness, Health and Wellness. She has ‘students’ instead of clients because we are all learning. Her philosophy of wellness (physically, mentally and spiritually) is that health is a personal journey- and we must focus on mastering positive choices because the quality of our lives depends on it!
Andrea began her journey many years ago. She earned her Black Belt in Tai Kwan Do in 1998, and built on the tenants of “Honor, Integrity, Courage, Discipline, Persistence, Commitment, and Belief in Self” that are the cornerstone of her practice. Recognizing the mental and physical benefits of martial arts, she became a Women’s’ Self-Defense Instructor, believing that women should not just ‘feel’ empowered but truly ‘be’ empowered. This prompted the development of her popular ‘Guts Class’ in tactical training to instill Self-Esteem and Self-Care in girls and women of all ages and abilities.
Since body strength and movement are the backbone for Self Defense, Ms. Hammer furthered her education in anatomy and kinesiology and holds multiple fitness certifications. She is a “Certified Fitness Trainer” with: International Sports Sciences Assn. which is accredited by the US Dept. of Education, and a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA); “Certified SeniorFit Specialist” with the American Academy of Health and Fitness- focusing on the unique health and fitness needs of older men and women. She is a Certified “Strength for the Streets” Trainer, Accredited by the American Strength Training Institute. This is a very intense, unbalanced, nontraditional, power and mobility class for more physically fit people. It is very challenging in that it emphasizes greater use of strength and focus for rescue & trauma situations for police, fire, EMTs. Further, Andrea is also a WellCoaches® Certified Health and Wellness Coach whose gold standards of coaching sciences and practices are supported by the Institute of Coaching at McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, and further accredited by the National Consortium for the credentialing of Health and Wellness Coaches.
All of Andrea’s metabolic functional fitness and exercise protocols incorporate emphasis on correct posture, internal balance, structural alignment, focused muscle movement and diaphragmatic breathing techniques for superior improvement in cardiovascular health, physical ability and safety. The results are greater increases in muscular strength, overall body conditioning, fat burning, improved mood and immunity, and the reduction of chronic diseases.
Ms. Hammer’s expertise extends, as well, to being a Holistic Nutritional Counselor. OUR bodies need optimal nutrients to work, not just regularly – but ‘radiantly’! Since whole, living foods “Feed your cells, when you feed yourselves!” she teaches her students to understand food labels, learn about chemical additives and toxins, make delicious ‘power foods’ and ‘super smoothies’ so they can “Eat Nutrients; NOT ‘Pollutrients’!” Her programs on ‘Workplace Wellness’; ‘The Risks and Prevention of Heart Disease and Diabetes’; and ‘Food FOR Nutrition’ are among her most popular for groups and corporate presentations. Andrea’s dynamic presentations and demonstrations are fun, interactive, motivational, poignant and to the point! Her goal is to have everyone walk away with practical and applicable tools of ‘Information and Inspiration’, that create new actions and attitudes to improve their Health, Strength & Vitality, and overall Personal Happiness.
As Andrea has worked with students over the last 20 years and listened to their stories, she realized that, in addition to their physical health concerns, everyone has some need for a greater sense of purpose and fulfillment in their lives. This compelled her to add Self Awareness and HappyLife™ Coaching to her training strategies that now comprise her signature protocol, ‘Your LIFE Program!’ (Live Intentionally Fabulous Everyday!). Her private coaching sessions- which are personalized for each individual’s unique goals, needs and abilities – include additional methods for optimal revitalization: restorative sleep, stress reduction, positive mindful practices and most importantly, an Exuberant outlook on life!
In addition to corporate speaking, corporate wellness coaching programs and women’s self-defense classes, Andrea is host of her own radio talk-show, and does high-level, in-depth personal and ‘concierge’ training.
